Shichimi Togarashi


Bring extra heat and flavour to your dishes with this Seven Spice blend. Known in Japanese as Shichimi, this seven spice blend combines red pepper, sansho pepper, roasted orange peel, black and white sesame seeds, seaweed and ginger for a complex mixture of aromatic, savoury, and spicy flavours.


I use this particular brand of Japanese peppers at the GreenZen Poké & Matcha Bar sparingly over soups to add that little bit of a kick to keep customers warm and fuzzy! Be sure to tap out the chilli sparingly and about 8 inches over the dish so that the chilli spreads out evenly and isn't too concentrated in one spot.


Cooking Instructions


Shichimi togarashi has been utilised in Japanese cuisine for several hundred years.


Sprinkle over soups, noodles, donburi dishes and savoury snacks for additional flavoursome spice.
